What started off as a very sad and all too common situation turned out to be a happy Easter ending. Ms. Lily the Chihuahua was given up at 10 years of age when her family decided they no longer had time for her. Fortunately for this sweet little girl, the Naperville Area Humane Society took her, giving her new mom and dad the chance to fall in love with her.
Ms. Lily was named for the Easter holiday she was adopted on, and she is now ready for the next phase of her life enjoying endless loving care and (hooray!) daily visits from her adoring nannies at Out-U-Go!
Big hugs to you Lily, Janice, and Darryl…we are so happy for you all!
Dannielle is an awesome Chicago Pet Sitter who biked her way through the Polar Vortex. She takes care of pups & kitties in the Loop!
My Favorite Animal (other than pups & kitties, of course!): Horses
My Favorite Game: Taboo, or anything that involves shouting funny things at my friends!
Best Gift Ever: A house cleaning coupon from a friend!
My Superpower Would Be: Flying.
Life Philosophy: Every single living being has something about them that is lovable.
After biking, driving, and walking pups all through this epic Polar Vortex of winters, we thought our awesome pet sitters deserved some serious celebration. Those of us in the office thought it was a tough Winter, but would NEVER be caught complaining about it in front of those that were actually OUT there doing the visits! Are they amazing or what?
In addition to celebrating Sara’s soon-to-be motherhood and Chris’s addition to the OUG! team, we toasted our tough-as-nails team for surviving the sub-zero temperatures Oak Park served us up these past few months.
It’s always great to get together and swap dog stories, share photos of our favorite furry friends, and just have a good time with people who love pups & kitties as much as we do!

When Maren is not cuddling with your furry family member, she will likely be found behind her camera!
I’m in charge of: Giver of belly rubs and walking adventures around the neighborhood!
My furry family: None at the moment, but I have dreams of a house full of dogs and cats!
Super power: Hmm… teleportation. That would be awesome! (And save lots of money on plane tickets!)
Best Thing Ever: A lazy Saturday morning with a hot cup of coffee and a good book.
Hidden Talent: Photography…when I’m not walking pups, I can most likely be found exploring the city with my camera.
Life Philosophy: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Yeah, we’re pretty much thinking the same thing…Scruffy is the perfect name for this pooch!
We are always greeted with a belly for rubbing, too, and usually a smile. His visits are so relaxing that you can’t help but enjoy every minute of them!

Sometimes we become products of our environments, picking up behaviors here and habits there, but we’ve never seen anything quite like Tally the Husky mix. This dog, who is definitely a dog, believes she is a cat! It is almost as though Tally has forgotten how to dog entirely, having been raised with only feline siblings.
In this hilarious collection of implicating photos circulating the World Wide Web this week, Tally seems to think hanging out in boxes, curling up in the windowsill, and watching TV when she thinks she’s alone is totally passing off as dog material. Her humans aren’t buying it, noting that she can’t even fake enjoying a belly rub. “She’ll stare at you and sigh a lot until you stop.”
Here is my entire belly, but don’t even think about it.
Yep. Tally definitely forgot how to dog.
It’s that time of year again!! Spring is quickly disappearing, and it is warm enough for dog washing.
The Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) yearly dog washes are in full swing! All funds raised in this season’s washes are used to pay medical expenses for the adoptable companions of the LCHS.
Out-U-Go! pitched in the afternoon of May 10, 2014, to wash doggies in the shelter’s shaded backyard. We had a blast sudsing up a bunch of soggy doggies!
For more info and a full listing of 2014 dog wash dates, visit Leon County Humane Society.
