Gus

Age: almost 5!

fun fact:
Ahem…

This is Gus. And despite being named after a bad guy (Breaking Bad, anyone?), Mr. Gus is a quiet and gentle pup when it comes to going for a walk and getting treats. His favorite watch post is the couch where he wags to greet you. Once he is out and about, he never wants to go back in! He loves to smell all the smells there are to smell and to get belly rubs!

Cupcake is a sweet little snugglebug! She loves to give kisses, and is just as happy taking a leisurely stroll around the block as she is napping on her bed. When Cupcake is really happy, you can tell by her little grunts! Her favorite things include Greenies, playing tug-of-war, and her kitty friend, Loretta.

The leaves are rustling and the air is getting crisp. That can only mean that Halloween is upon us—our favorite (we said favorite, not only) time of year to dress up our furry family members.

Woof, Pet Parents!

Happy Responsible Dog Parent Day! Today’s your day – you get it all to yourself (yea, that’s not actually going to happen.) But, all the pups we’ve been visiting have been sharing just how grateful they are to have loving, responsible, and awesome Pet Parents in their lives and we couldn’t agree more.

Being a responsible pet parent is serious, no doubt. Since you’ve got that all under control, we’d recommend you spend the day celebrating being awesome. How, you ask? By taking your fur-kid to do something fun, of course. Pups aren’t being selfish about it, they just wouldn’t want you celebrating the big day alone.

  • Head to the beach – the official final days of summer might be over, but the sunshine remains.
  • Play at the Dog Park – your pup can brag to all their friends about how much better you are than all other Pet Parents.
  • Take a nap – you deserve it – they insist.
  • Grab a bite or a cold beverage – outside, where pups are welcome (they asked we mention that very important detail. Apparently there are places they can’t go?)

Thanks for being you and for always wanting what’s best for your pup and all things furry!

Hiya Pet Parents,

It’s back-to-school, more activities for the kiddos, tighter schedules for Pet Parents, and pups that want to remain busy, active, and frankly, keep their humans home. Willy (left) and Louis (right) were nominated by their bestie, Andy! These two photos were taken on their birthday last month, and as you can see, they know how to party! Louis loves having his photo taken, but Willy has to be distracted with toys – when Andy gets too close with the camera, he just can’t understand why Andy isn’t petting him instead. 🙂

Mutts Up, Pet Parents!

It’s no secret—we LOVE all pups, kitties, and creatures furry, feathered, and scaled. But, July 31st is a day the Mutts in our lives get a little extra shout-out for National Mutt Day!

In addition to requesting that you extend extra belly rubs to the Mutts in your lives, we’d also encourage our awesome Pet Parents to discover ways in which you can help and support less fortunate Mutts awaiting their forever homes. Many shelters depend on National Mutt Day for spreading awareness, receiving donations, gathering an increase in volunteer applications, etc. How will you love a little harder this National Mutt Day?

🎇 A Fido Friendly Fourth 🎆

Greetings, Pet Parents!

Sunshine, parties, and fireworks – all things we humans look forward to during the summer months. With the fourth of July upon us, it’s time to not only figure out how you’re going to celebrate Independence Day, but also how to keep your feline and canine companions calm, collected, and happy during all the excitement (and noise). Fireworks don’t make the list of almost any pup’s favorite things…

Tips for a Fido Friendly Fourth:

  • Keep pups at home – Even “relaxing” at a friend’s house can be stressful for pups that are in a new surrounding with loud, unfamiliar noises.
  • Create a happy environment – For pups that are crated, consider covering their crate with a blanket. For all pups, play some music or turn on the television to create background noise and help drown out the sounds from outdoors.
  • Avoid grill scraps – Most pups would find all the food pretty tasty. But, some of them are toxic and many (coupled with the stress) lend themselves to very upset puppy tummies.
  • Schedule some love – Either pop in back at home periodically to assure your fur-kids that fireworks too shall pass or schedule a visit with an OUG! B.F.F. – we’d love to keep our friends company.
  • Collars and identification – Be sure your pup is wearing identification and not left unattended. Nervous, pups are always more likely to jump, run, dig, etc.

As our lives get busier, vacations get planned, backyard barbecues are booked, and time seems to be moving all too quickly, be sure and block out some time outdoors with your pup! Outdoor play is just darn good for the soul. A few activities that will have your pup’s tail-a-waggin’ (and you smiling) are:

  1. Sprinkler time
  2. A stroll along the beach
  3. A canine play date
  4. Teach your pup to skateboard…and please send us a vid.
  5. Go for a hike
