Keep up with what’s happening at Out-U-Go Boulder.

Happy September Parents!

doggy-school-bus-costume
It’s hard to believe it is September and another summer has flown by all too quickly! The human kids have sharpened their pencils, are sporting their new backpacks, and have headed back to school. We “grown-ups” are very quickly settling back into our normal work / life schedules. New routines don’t only affect the small and large humans in our homes, they impact our dog kids as well. (Cats too, though they very well may welcome some peace and quiet). Cesar Milan wrote a great article on the Back to School Doggie Blues. – One of his suggestions for alleviating puppy blues is an afternoon walk and visit.

Let us know how we can help make your fall transition a little easier.

– Your BFFs at Out-U-Go!

September’s P.O.T.M. is…

Wrigley

Type: Newfoundland-ish
Age: 4 years

fun fact:
Wrigley is known for laying on his back, paws straight up in the air, to stay cool on a warm summer day. He also enjoys long walks in the park, when bacon accidentally falls on the ground, and anything that squeaks!

Out-U-Go! Celebrates National Pet Month

When you see us out in your neighborhood, you have probably noticed that no matter how much we love movin’ & shakin’ on our walks, we can’t help but stop and sniff the May flowers with your pups. With blossoms in bloom, we get to thinking about how much we love our furry kiddos and all the love they give us back (usually in the form of sloppy kisses and wiggly behinds!).

In honor of this special bond, we’re on Facebook & Twitter celebrating National Pet Month! We’re sharing some surprising benefits that our four-legged family members offer us, in addition to top tips for humans to further better the lives of our beloved furbabies. Get in on the conversation!

Rescuing Isn’t Just For the Dogs: Earth Day Edition!

Happy Earth Day Month, Pet Parents!

Typically when we talk rescue stories, it’s in reference to our beloved pup and kitty pals. Earth Day, though, provides a great opportunity to consider a broader spectrum to include our wildlife pals, too!

Like pets, there are animals in nature needing human love and support. Sea lions are one such example, and The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago has an incredible program to rescue them. The aquarium notably adopted a blind sea lion pup, Cruz, who wouldn’t have survived in the wild on his own. With the help of the Shedd team, he’s found a safe home filled with friends, both human and fellow sea lion. To see more about Cruz, check out his story.

Elly Denver Pet Sitter

Meet Denver’s Dog Whisperer, Elly!

I’m in charge of: Providing much needed relief, fresh air, and endless love, plus long walks along the shore of Sloan’s Lake and around the Highlands ‘hood.

My Furry Family:

  • Lola Belle (Australian Shepard, Lab, Rottweiler Mix, 8 years old): The love of my life, my soul mate, super spooner, snow bunny, protector, loyal friend, cuddle bug, therapist, work-out partner, beautiful brown eyes…she totally understands me.
  • Sancho (Boxer/Beagle Mix, 6 years old): My man on the side, my partner in crime, my prince charming, sweet baby boy, master jumper…(8 feet!).
  • Sinbad (short-haired kitty cat, 12 years old): Handsome, powerful, strong and confident. Owns the neighborhood (or so he thinks), and although he hates to admit it, he is beginning to like to cuddle with his Mommy and his human brother Ashton more and more.
  • Grace (A.K.A. Barf) (Kitty, 12 years old): Misunderstood and very sweet. She thinks the baby’s room is her own and loves to bask in the sun.

Hidden Talent: Wicked Dance Moves, and due to my past life as a dog, I would be perfectly content sleeping all day, receiving a head massage, eating, and taking a few walks a day. I understand pups’ every want and need…The Dog Whisperer if you will…

Life Philosophy: I love life and love livin’ it. Smile at everyone you come across or that chooses to acknowledge and/or make eye contact with you. Happiness or sadness is contagious! Open your arms and home to a dog…truly the best friend you will ever have.

Super Power: The ability to snap my fingers and produce enough money to own and operate a dog rescue and find homes and loving families for all the homeless pets throughout the world!!!

Colorado pet sitter Mark

Meet Colorado Pet Sitting Superstar, Mark!

I’m in charge of: Not only do I give your pup a chance to poop while you’re away, I provide stimulation! By reinforcing pet parent training and changing up our walk routes often, your pup gets exercise for the body and mind…and nose!

My furry family: No pets right now. Sad face. I am new to Colorado and I wanted to be sure I have the schedule, environment, and a proper home for a pet to thrive in! I’ve got my eye on a Shiba Inu rescue for when the time is right!

My superpower would be: Ooooo…my favorite icebreaker question. I think I would choose invisibility to get to the bottom of Area 51 and expose the formula for Coca Cola…I’d also see a lot of free movies and concerts! If I could have two super powers, I would combine my invisibility with time travel to go back in time and watch the great artistic masters paint.

Best thing ever: Good food, live music, and the love of my wife. All three of those things wrapped together in varying daily quantities make me a generally pretty happy fellow.

Hidden Talent: The ability to flawlessly toss a poop bag into an open distant dumpster. Also, people tell me stuff. All the time. It’s weird.

Life Philosophy: Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life! Thanks for using Out-U-Go! and helping me live out my philosophy every day!!

Doge weather

Dear Doge, Is it Spring (Break) yet?

Furry intel has it that we’ve got a few more weeks of winter weather ahead of us (Punxsutawney Phil reports and Doge confirms). Thinking about heading for the beach this Spring Break? Let your B.F.F.s (Best Friend’s Friends!) at Out-U-Go! hang out with your four-legged family! While you’re away catching some rays, we’ll be here giving your pups and kitties all the love, chin scratches, and belly rubs they could ever imagine. And cookies. There will be cookies.

Schedule your vacation care visits or house sitting today! We book up quickly during this popular travel time, so give us a “woof!”

Denver & Boulder Office Dog Jack

Meet Denver & Boulder’s Office Security & Quality Control Dog Officer, Jack!

I’m in charge of: Office Security & Quality Control Officer. Responsibilities include hourly perimeter checks in the office, checking out all smells, auditing treat supply, training sitters on head and butt scratching techniques, and sniffing down visitors.

My furry family: I live with a bunch of girls who drive me crazy! One of my sisters is an Australian Cattle dog mix who’s always stealing my bed and another sister is a fat orange kitty who never wants to play or share food.

Super power: If you could have one super power what would it be? The ability to leap tall buildings (I am a Great Pyrenees after all…).

Best Thing Ever: Snow!! I love everything about the snow-it holds a ton of good smells, it’s delicious and refreshing, it is the best to roll around in, and I blend into it so well!

Hidden Talent: I can’t wait for my solo backpacking trip this summer to the south of France! I’ll start in Pau and make my way to Cauterets in 7 days with hikes exploring exquisite lakes, shepherds’ huts, and rugged glacier-carved scenery. And I’m totally excited for all of the cheese too!!

Life Philosophy: I believe in the power of long, thoughtful walks, the breeze in your fur, and other simple pleasures like rolling in the grass. Life should be full of treats, snuggles, and belly rubs!
