Keep up with what’s happening at Out-U-Go Tallahassee

Tallahassee Pet Sitting Extraordinaire, Richard!

Meet Tallahassee Pet Sitting Superstar: Richard

Join us in welcoming a brand new member of the OUG! Tally Team! Richard is a herpetologist that comes to us from the Indianapolis Zoo, where he took care of reptiles, birds, and small mammals, including the meerkats!! I know…the MEERKATS! Pretty darn cool, huh?!

He also has loads of experience of the canine and feline variety. So, good news if your best friend happens to be a frisky, tail waggin’ sun-loving frilled lizard…’cause Richard has it covered!

Honestly, just when I thought the Out-U-Go! Tallahassee Pet Sitting team couldn’t get any better, they go and get better.

Tallahassee Pet Care gets greener

Tallahassee Pet Care Just Got Greener

Believe me: we go through A LOT of poop bags!! That’s why OUG! Tally is teaming up with our friends at Greentrees Pet Waste Removal Service to go a little greener–one poop bag at a time!!

Greentrees is committed to maintaining a clean environment that is safe and healthy for individuals and their families. Greentrees bio-based pet waste bags are 38% bio-based using American-grown agricultural products.

In our book, every little bit helps, so starting in May, Out-U-Go! Tallahassee Pet Care is switching to the Greentrees bio-based pet waste bags for all of our daily dog walks! Instead of continuing to use the standard plastic poop bags that are not earth friendly, we are making a commitment to be better stewards of our little corner of the planet.

If you would like more information, please visit Greentrees PWRS!

OUG Earth Day

Happy Earth Day, Living Beings!

Every day is a great day to think and talk about our environmental conservation efforts, but the celebrated Earth Day is coming up on Monday, April 22. Skip the usual case of the Mondays and opt to have a smart and fun eco-experience with your four-legged children!

  • Talk to your cat about responsible paper towel use. Many pet-induced messes call for a fresh square or two, but consider using a cloth or rag next time Mittens “accidentally” pushes your drink glass over the moment you stop scratching her chin.
  • Teach your fur-children about climate change through participating in World Wide Fund for Nature‘s (WWF) Earth Hour. Since bedtime seems to be when pups practice their Olympics tryout material and kitties reenact American Gladiators episodes, this earlier hour free of non-essential lights on Earth Day will earn you some additional sleep and the last laugh.
  • Plant a tree with your pup! He will surely be willing to assist with the daily maintenance, and as a bonus, he will feel philanthropic in watching it grow from a tiny seedling into a structure that houses his squirrel arch-nemeses.

Learn more about how we minimize our carbon paw prints every day through Out-U-Go! Cares!

Best Dog Parks in Tallahassee, FL

Best Dog Parks in Tallahassee, FL

Dog parents understand the importance of finding a great local dog park. Dog parks are a great resource for your furry friend to run to his heart’s content, interact with other dogs, sniff new things, and buddy up to humans in attempts to gain cookies. It is also a great place for pet parents to meet like-minded neighbors and share fur-children stories! We’ve put together a list of the best dog parks in Tallahassee, FL to help you find a spot with the amenities, space, and cookie-dispensing humans that your pup is looking for!

  1. Tom Brown Dog Park: This Tallahassee dog park has two separate fenced areas to accommodate both small and large dogs. Double gate entry ways separate this off-leash dog park from its larger Tom Brown Park. There are water fountains for both pets and people. There is a picnic area for guests in both shaded and sunny areas. Each fenced in area is grassy with a few sandier areas. Disposal bags and trash cans are conveniently located next to one another at the entrance of both the small and large dog areas.
  2. San Luis Dog Park: San Luis Dog Park is a great open area for your dog to run around and play off leash. This dog park is a single large fenced area for both small and large dogs located within San Luis Mission Park. The dog park is mostly sand with lots of trees, but it can get muddy after rain. There are water fountains for both pets and people. If your pup still has energy after playing with her pals, leash her up and explore the trails behind the dog park!
  3. Maclay Gardens State Park: Well-mannered dogs are welcome in the park. Dogs must be on a 6 foot or less hand held leash and be cleaned up after promptly. Dogs are not allowed in buildings, the garden, or in swim areas. Dogs are allowed on the 2 nature trails, 5 miles of multi-use trails, and picnicking by the river.

Have fun exploring!

Tallahassee Vet, Dr. Appel

Tail Wags to Tallahassee Vet, Dr. Appel!

Dr. Jennell Appel is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist at Los Robles Animal Hospital. Sounds pretty high tech, huh? Actually, this Tallahassee vet happens to be the only of her kind in the Big Bend Area!

Dr. Appel (Dr. J) has literally given Top Dog Elizabeth Tull’s sweet rescue dog, Delta, a chance for a normal life. Turns out, one year old Delta’s hips were in terrible shape. Making a long story short: after several surgeries, an epic battle with MRSA, a hip implant removal, and hours upon hours of rehab with Dr. J, Delta is zooming around and playing like any other healthy dog! Dr. J has given Elizabeth’s sweet pup a chance at life. Dr. J never gave up on this little waif of a dog and has worked wonders. There are no words to describe our gratitude for Dr. J’s hard work, dedication, friendship and brilliance!! She is a truly wonderful Tallahassee vet!

PAWS Pet Boutique Anniversary Celebration in Tallahassee, FL

PAWS Pet Boutique of Tallahassee celebrated their 5th anniversary on September 8th, 2012. Pet parents packed up their pooches and headed over for a tail waggin’ brunch for humans and canines alike!  Out-U-Go! Tallahassee Dog Walking and Pet Sitting served mimosas, and Last Hope Rescue brought their adorable, adoptable dogs.
A donation to Last Hope Rescue treated your pup to a professional nail clip and a super cool line drawing by local artist Pattie Maney.

Barks, Bites, and …..Porta Pottys?

Out-U-Go! Tallahassee joined the Animal Shelter Foundation (ASF) in the All Saints Hop Yard on September 2nd for “Barks and Bites” to benefit animals in need.  This was our first event and it gave us a chance to introduce Out-U-Go! to Tallahassee in a way that helped bring attention to ASF who works tirelessly for animals in our community.

We introduced the OUG Manifesto and explained OUG’s unique ability to be completely flexible for Tallahassee pet parents. We had the pleasure of having Greta (our first and totally fantastic pet sitter!) and her love-bug Honeyboo (OUG Tally’s first Chiweenie!) join us for the fun!

Grace serving as our "Welcoming Committee"...

Honeyboo!!

Tallahassee’s Top Dogs were joined by Kevin-Top Dog husband extraordinaire-with Grace the Dalmatian…the only dog we have, who could make it through the event without making tremendously bad choices. Three of our loyal supporters…Marcus, Renee and the lovely Miss Fiona-dog, hung out with the Out-U-Go! gang.

Miss Fiona!

We fielded dozens of questions including one about an exceptionally needy hamster! The hamster’s person was concerned that we would really not be set up or trained for extremely needy animals…

We explained our unique capabilities with OUG’s own Dog Walk University training under our belts and the Tallahassee Top Dog’s predilection for attracting less than mainstream animals.

In fact, the Tallahassee Top Dogs are practically a needy animal Special Ops unit!

Our own pets require an interesting skill set and exemplify the OUG motto for our pet parents, No Problem! Here’s the run down:

Bailey, our 7lb Calico with cat-patterned baldness, irritable bowels, and a skin condition requiring antihistamine ear cream that requires jujitsu moves to protect any skin you are particularly fond of.

Bruce, our big boned rat terrier- with an unidentified plant allergy  causing his bottom half to turn an odd shade of pink while scratching himself uncontrollably, requires daily oatmeal baths that need to air dry while lap sitting on his fluffy towel so he can catch up with the Kardashians.

Poor little Bruce... 😉

And then there is Delta…..a loveable lab mix rescue who refuses to eat anything that is not served in a pizza box and has only one hip ….requiring physical therapy, treadmill time (complete with her own custom doggie ankle weight), massages and bubbling in a hot tub to work the kinks out.

So a needy hamster that requires being worn in a hoodie for at least 13 hours a day……..NO PROBLEM!

After assuring the hamster pet parent we were uniquely qualified to care for her little love, we received the best question of the night…..Was Out-U-Go! the Porta Potty Company?

As we were situated right next to the Porta Pottys…and our name has OUT and GO in it…we really should have expected this……and really folks….couldn’t a pug who went on a Snausages binge be considered a portable potty unit?

Stay tuned for the exciting play by play coverage from Out-U-Go! Tally’s first Play Date in the Park on October 15th!

Peace-Love-and Belly Rubs!!

Tally Ho!

The Top Dogs of Out-U-Go! Tallahassee have been working ’round the clock to get ready for our August 15th Grand Opening.  With help from the Top Dog husbands, family, and friends we have equipped an Out-U-Go! office that is ready to roll out AWESOME pet care like the Capital City has never seen!

After much searching, we found a pawsitively purrfect location to be homebase for our top notch pet sitters, a totally secure location for our Pet Parent’s keys, and a home away from home for the Top Dog Dogs.

Bruce making himself at home at the OUG! Tally office...

Speaking of the Top Dog Dogs – they are completely pooped!  Bruce, rat terrier in charge of Chicken Chip Quality Assurance, has spent the past week going to work with his favorite person!  It’s about time, he thinks.  Jingbo, labrador retriever trained in Milk Bone Disposal, has been on the scene with his faithful sidekick, Delta.  Delta, lab mix extraordinaire, concentrated on Dog Toy Demolition – while Grace, our dalmatian designer, gave the dog beds that lived in look.  😉

So, as you can see, Out-U-Go! Tallahassee is ready to kickoff our premier dog, kitty, and critter care for your furry family just in time for college football season!  Go Seminoles!!

Peace – Love – & Belly Rubs!   🙂
